The HYPERCRATE window: a searchable sample library with waveforms, tag filters and detected keys and tempos repitched to the project key, above the live meter deck and a running Layer Deck stack

WHAT IT NEEDS.NOT MUCH.

HYPERCRATE is a native desktop app, not a browser wrapper. It runs happily on a normal studio machine, and it does the heavy lifting once rather than every time you open it.

Analysis is the only heavy part, and you choose how much of the machine it gets. A CPU control sits beside the progress bar with three settings: LOW runs a single file at a time and leaves the machine to you, MED takes about half your cores, and HIGH uses everything the chip has bar a couple of threads. It ships on HIGH, and you can change it mid-import: the new setting takes hold as the jobs already running finish. On Apple Silicon the two lower settings also ask macOS to keep analysis on the efficiency cores. Once a folder is indexed, browsing and auditioning stay instant on modest hardware.
